Workshop on the Role of the Journalist in Post-war News Reporting

Media Training workshop for provincial journalists, organized by the Sri Lanka Press Council under the guidance of the Ministry of Mass Media and Information was held in Ampara. This workshop, which has been organized in precedence to the Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition and in co-ordaination with the District Secretariat, Ampara, was conducted on 15thDecember, 2012 at the Monti Hotel, Ampara.

This workshop including lectures and discussions on the ‘role of the Journalist in Post-war News reporting’ was attended by about 100 provincial journalists representing the Ampara district. The senior journalist Karunadasa Sooriyarachchi, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajith Rohana and Tamil Pandith Madulugiriye Wijerathne have joined this workshop as resource persons.

Hon. Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara, Mr. Neel de Alwis, District Secretariat, Ampara, Mr.Nalaka Kaluwewa, Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Press Council, Mr. Sarath Dambawinna, Media Secretary to Hon. Minister of Mass Media and Information and a number of senior Government Officials attented this event.
